FOCAL POINT

Perspective on the cliff of le Cap Fréhel, a lighthouse named Le Grand Jardin and Cézembre island all seen from the Minihic beach. Little painting made with one of the Rotring pens of my father and his Écoline inks, 1979 (6 years old). | Photo © Caroline Maby

Saint-Malo, Brittany, France.

This is where I was born. This is where I live and work, same address, same home and studio at Le Petit Paramé.

I have crisscrossed the bay sailing catamarans, I have walked the beaches, the customs paths, on foot, by bike, by motorbike, most often at dawn or twilight, with a telephone, a Polaroid, a notebook. Sometimes with music: Bach, Richter, Radiohead...

A series of snapshots reappears today on an old Mac; they seem outdated* and yet the views are eternal. They say a little of my inspiration and a lot of the sap that nourishes me, blue-green, with a salty, mineral and fresh taste.

I am pleased to share them here.
